If I were to buy a dashboard mounted camera, what sort of price would I be paying for decent quality (not the very best) but that is still good value for money.

Rather expensive for me at the moment. I did find some cheap one's on ebay but do you suspect that they will be terrible quality at this price?

I can't comment on the quality of the cameras you mention on eBay, but one difference between these and the Roadhawk (or similar) is that the latter incorporates GPS and accelerometers, and so records position, speed, acceleration and deceleration, etc, as well as the video. I.e. it's closer to a proper automotive black box.

Your ebay ones are big and ugly, the Blackview ones are nice and discrete. If you look on the D3 forum lots of members have hardwired the power in to the car. |

I have one similar to the cheaper eBay one. Got it to see if I would bother using it, and then if I did, move on to the roadhawk. I still have it!!, great little thing, hardly noticeable just to the left of the rear view mirror. I ran a extra long USB lead just inside the roof lining and then under my seat and into the aux socket, can't see any wires at all. You need a decent SD card (32 gig class 10) but these are cheap now. It records in 5 minute cycles and so is very easy to find any time slot.
