FRONT WIPERS DON'T SWITCH OFF

I have an intermittent problem with the front wipers. Occasionally they will not switch off even with the ignition fob removed. I have fitted a switch to the battery for emergencies, but it means that I can not lock the vehicle. It is not the rain sensor as I have disconnected the fuse, and that makes no difference. Any suggestions? I do love my Freelander.

I suspect that the motor park switch is faulty. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
