England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Lago Grey
Hints for new vehicle user

I have just bought a 2009 FL2 es 44thou mls from Stratstone Stockton. As I bought it just under 3yrs they have given me a full dealer 12 months warranty. I'm really pleased with the vehicle apart from an occasional squeaking when changing gear (manual). They have said not a problem bring it in and we'll sort it.
For the techy's :- Is there a rubber bush in the gear linkage that would cause this squeak?
Are there any other items I should be aware of to check before warranty expires?
Thanks John

There are a few that a trawl on here will help you.

From memory - or happened to mine:-

boot lid doesn't lock/unlock - simple fix which means replacing handle trim or microswitch - caused by water ingress

rubber trims around wheel arches - start to splay out due to dirt/rust? under the trim - another easy and cheap fix

brake pads delaminating - really annoying not sure if they have fixed it by 09 version but new pads sort it out.

sunroof leaks - caused by poor assembly of internal drain tubes at the factory

a few clutch failures on manuals - expensive but mine's ok

Parking sensors failures in wet weather mine ok though

the gearstick squeek as you mention is just a lube job

stones can get stuck in the brake calipers giving a grinding noise - not a lot you can do to prevent this but it's quite rare anyway.

grinding noise from power steering at full lock

09- 11 models seem to be in most danger of the diff bearing fault, if you here a whine from the rear, get it checked out whist you have a warranty.

A friend of mine bought a 10 plate recently and its just gone in for the same bearing At work

Rear wiper motors have a habit of seizing up due to water ingress. Cheers,

Check for oil leaking from breather pipe at top back of engine.Simple fix but apparently it's common.

Thankfully the kids have grown up now. still whining but no longer in the rear. I still have a whine from the passenger side occasionally. Laughing
