I understand that on a hill, the handbrake should be used rather than relying on 'park' as it places too much strain on the parking pin.

However, if you guys were to park on a flat or slightly sloping road or car park, would you bother with the handbrake or simply use 'park'? 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Personally, I use both but I wouldn't ever rely on just 'Park' to hold the car. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

I put the brake on also, I park on a slope and there's a big clunk if I just use park, so it's just instinct to do all the time now

With the rear hand brake adjusters prone to seizing I keep using it when I can, if I keep using it I like to think it wll keep it relatively free, not using it and it may seize sooner. Question

use the handbrake to draw you to a stop occasionally, it warms the drum and dries things out a little, it will also prolong brake shoe life ,as if you leave them damp and unused the liners fall off the shoes At work

Stop, keep foot on brake, apply handbrake, select neutral, let handbrake take the strain as you release foot brake THEN select park. No more clunking when selecting next gear position. Thumbs Up

Always use handbrake on an auto.... Wouldn't want to lose the habit and forget when i really need to remember!
