To sell or not to sell???

I have a full size spare for sale elsewhere on freel2, but just thought I would put the question out there, which is best?

Full Size Spare

Or

Inflator Kit

I know that no one would ever use the gunk in the inflator kit, but surely it is better to have the means to pump your tire up than to change it for a new one... If my tire goes pop, then I am on the phone to LR assist anyhow Thumbs Up

Opinions please... 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

BUMP!

Got any votes for me ? Wink

Why is it swinging to Full Size Spare? What are your thoughts?

I like the extra space an inflator gives... 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

your selling a perfectly good tyre, maybe just keep it for use when needed or sell it Laughing i would keep it for as long as you own the car then sell At work

full sized wheel is loads better,

You can drive normally on it
You don't need to mess about with gunk
you can store items around the wheel or under it
if you use gunk to repair, the puncture can not be repaired so you need to buy a new tyre anyway

gunk is a money saving cop out by LR to save a few pennies, lower weight for CO2 and MPG ratings

So you think I should keep it then? Not used a spare tyre in 20 odd years, so seems like money to be sat there not gaining anything...

Anyone got any thoughts on the benefits of the inflator (ignoring the gunk of course) 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

I bought a full size spare for mine. I have never had a puncture in my life and have never had to change a wheel by the roadside....but....I have the peace of mind that if I do have a problem, I am covered. I am a tad risk averse and carry a hydraulic bottle jack, a breaker bar and a torque wrench in the boot!

I guess the gunk thing is Ok but as has been mentioned, you will need a new tyre even if it had been otherwise fixable. Also what use is the gunk thing if you have been unlucky enough to rip the side wall out of the tyre? John

Keep the spare!!! Never have needed one.....until my freelander arrived last Tuesday. Wednesday flat rear tyre! Stealers have agreed to replace both rear tyres (flat is a nail in the side wall). I have no spare but will be keeping the non punctured tyre now, as I've had to wait 2 days for the tyres to come into the tyre place. If I had a spare tyre I'd be able to use the car a bit. Big Cry

Not having a spare didn't bother me but it does now!

Ah so the problem isnt the fact that you wont be stranded at the roadside cos we have LR Assist, but the real issue is in having a replacement so you can carry on driving!?

Maybe that is the sole best reason to have one then Thumbs Up 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

Had a blowout which shredded the tyre, pulled over jacked car up, shredded wheel off, full sized spare on, carried on with journey in under 15 minutes. No waiting for LRA/AA/RAC/Green Flag etc.
Inflator kit would have been useless and getting a replacement tyre at 8.00 pm on a Sunday night well on impossible so for me a full sized tyre wins everytime and I'll put up with the loss of additional storage and weight.

Funny tale,

I came out of the house last night to see a woman drive into our street with a complete flat tyre.

She had absolutely no idea she was driving on the rim!

I reckon if she went much further there would have been sparks flying...
