frosty mornings = turn off auto wipers !

If the frost and ice comes this week as expected, don't forget to turn off auto wipers to avoid wiper arm damage. Thumbs Up

And if you have heated screen, remember to use the winter park position so that the screen can unfreeze the wipers.

On mine (07) the wipers lie across the heater elements in the park position. I think Winter Park is just a re-name of Service Position, where the wipers sit vertically so you can then lift them away from the screen, enabling you to change the wipers or prevent them freezing to the screen. If you leave them lying on the screen in the vertical position they will return to horizontal as soon as you switch the ignition on (i.e. before the heated screen comes on).

Anyway I have turned the Rain Sensing \ Auto function of my wipers off now. The other one to remember is to disable the auto power fold mirrors, when you switch off, press the left and right mirror buttons simultaneously to manually fold the mirrors in. This means when they are frozen and you disable the alarm they won't automatically try to unfold, you do them manually when they are thawed out.

On Wifey's MY11 they stay upright until you either push the wiper switch down again or turn the wipers on.

Your right, I was quoting my handbook, but I just went out to try it and the ignition had no effect, they stayed upright until I manually operated them.
