Particularly bad across Yorkshire today. Makes me very glad to be a Land Rover owner once again. I know it's infrequent that we actually 'need' them for on-road travel but I still wouldn't be without it.

Worst section of road I came across had a few vehicles queuing, several had turned around and were coming back toward me and were advising to turn around. I was a little surprised when the lady passenger in a D3 gestured I needed to turn back. I thought it must be really bad. Undetered I decided I'd carry on round the corner to actually see what the road was like. Sure enough it was badly flooded, with a ford fiesta stranded and half submerged in the middle. From that I could see the water level and decided I could get through, which I did, without problem, feeling smug once again. Did consider stopping to help rescue the car but told a Defender driver to help instead!

Garage is flooded but that's cause the rear of it is still piled high with junk causing the rain water to back up in stead of drain away, but nothing major

Went to check one of my properties as the landlord has been flooded a couple of times before, but was a good 15ft below the flood prevention dams, hopefully her £15000 flood excess will be safe

Aberdeen beautiful and sunny today, but be warned, if you get stuck trying to drive through a flood your insurance can refuse to payout as it will be deemed as "self inflicted" damage. ______________________

personally I think it's a bit stupid to drive through a flooded road unless you have no choice.

you don't know how deep it is until it's too late !!

Yep, I agree!

That,s why Mrs M always wades through it first with her trusty L/R umbrella testing the depth first..

If it goes over the top of her waders, we find another way round ..!!  Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.

....fair enough, if you're on a road you don't know then you can't have any idea of how deep it is or what's lying under the surface. Howeever, on a road you know I'm still amazed at how many people can fail to negotiate a puddle only a couple of inches deep.
Then there's the logic these days that it is far safer to swerve into on coming traffic than go through a puddle.
Several times I've had to hit the rakes and swerve because numpties coming the other way have moved into my lane to avoid a puddle. Mind you they do it for cyclists as well....

another prob with floods is the holes left by missing manhole covers that you cant see under the water.

very good point as they usually are lifted off by the surge.

The recent floods look severe! Hope everyone is alright.
I hardly experience any flooding these days being in Birmingham but when I used to live in Shropshire the river Severn burst its banks on what seemed like an annual basis.
