New headunit. Some questions

Hi,

I have fitted a double din Pioneer headunit to Mrs Nutt's car but it's raised a couple of questions and I could do with some help otherwise I'll be in hot water with she who must be spoilt.

1. Since fitting the headunit we haven't heard a peep out of the reversing sensors (even when I reversed into someones car)
2. The screen stays bright even when it's dark and the settings are set to automatic. Looks like I have to attached a wire to let the satnav know when the lights are on.

Additionally I need to sort out the wheel speed sensors and find a 12v line that is on when the key is in the ignition as currently the engine needs to be running. But these are different, lower priorities.

For now any help with points 1 & 2 are very much appreciated.

Thanks F2 GS TD4

I am pretty sure that the reversing system is routed through the standard fit audio unit and other people have said that they have had to keep the original unit mounted in the boot in order to maintain functioning reversing sensors, when replacing the audio.

I would be interested to see pics of the new unit in situ. Thumbs Up 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

The reversing system is relatively complicated I believe and the cause of many a headache for the audio people who put in my double din unit.
They left the original unit in the boot, and re-routed the original fibre-optics. They then added an extra speaker in the dashboard for the bleeps. 2008 FL2 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver, Manual

So by far the easiest solution would be to fit a reversing camera then? F2 GS TD4

You could also install another aftermarket parking sensor set.

Oh, that sounds cheap and simple. Get the right kit too and I guess there would just be a very minimal amount of cutting and splicing of wires too.

Have you done this? Can you recommend a kit or have any pointers? F2 GS TD4

Anyone used these CANM8 interfaces?

Looks like they could be really useful... Ignition 12v, illumination, reversing, plus they are also available with a buzzer and the code need to get your stock reversing sensors working again! F2 GS TD4
