That's because the FL2 is intelligent enough to cut the engine before the tank is dry.
I theory it should be impossible to run out of fuel, the car warns you by going into reduced power mode for about 10 miles then just shuts down with about 3 litres of fuel left.
Do not rely on the 10 mile figure, that's just what mine normally does, it depends on driving style etc.

You can actually run out of fuel if one of the fuel senders goes AWOL, the system thinks there is fuel left, it displays just less than half a tank on the gauge, your plodding down the outside lane, suddenly no power !!!

So you knock it into neutral to give the throttle a blip - nothing. Now you have an auto, with no engine, no power steering, and only a limited number of pumps on the brakes and your "travelling" in the outside lane on an unlit motorway.

I bet you don't say "oh dear" Censored Censored Censored

As an aside 5 liters may not be enough to trigger the engine to restart, mine usually takes between 8 and 10 liters. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

I dont let mine run below 1/3rd full, just in case theres a tanker strike overnight and all the pumps are instantly dried up by all the queueing motorists filling jam jars of the stuff who seem to know a day before its announced.
