With regards to the roof rails, if you can separate the fixings from the end so you literally just have the bare aluminium rail, you could possibly have them anodised black, this would be harder wearing and more scratch resistant than painting. If thats not an option then powder coating might be your best option. |

I haven't had mine done, but in my experience with aluminium mountain bike parts anodising is harder wearing that powder coat and doesn't require high temperatures in the finishing process that powder coating does. |
