Wheel and paint question

I have had 20" black wheels for two years and love them but recently bought a new set of 19" diamond wheels to get me back on the sand, I like these wheels but I feel like the black ones were more my style.

In addition I've just fitted the flush mount prorack roof racks, this is the set that has cross bars only and fit neatly into the track not the door jam, however the bars are bare aluminium colour which goes against my black on black look.

Two questions:
Can I paint the aluminium roof rails to be black? If so, what is the best method?
I was going to sell the new wheels but considering painting them black instead (I've seen LR make a gloss black pair), has anyone got good results out of plastic dip on wheels? Are they true gloss and will they fade much? 2011 black FL2

With regards to the roof rails, if you can separate the fixings from the end so you literally just have the bare aluminium rail, you could possibly have them anodised black, this would be harder wearing and more scratch resistant than painting. If thats not an option then powder coating might be your best option. Smile

I haven't had mine done, but in my experience with aluminium mountain bike parts anodising is harder wearing that powder coat and doesn't require high temperatures in the finishing process that powder coating does.

Yep, pretty sure I can get the rails apart and in their own.

I will make some calls and see who does anodising around here, thanks for the tip.

Any ideas on the wheels? 2011 black FL2
