The pass is not for those who suffer from vertigo - especially when tackled the "best" way west to east. Whistle

Next September the traditional Klausen vintage car & motorbikes' time trials take place and the "pits" may well end up being located in the medical centre car park. If the Scottish Laird doesn't mind slumming it you can be placed on her Ladyship's guest list - note that at the moment there is one Austin Healy 3000 crew on pole position. Thumbs Up

Scotland 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Indus Silver

Drove over that back in 1988 in a camper van and met a tourist coach coming the other way Shocked , as far as I can remember it was 2nd gear all the way up for about 7 miles, stopped at the top to take in the view then had problems starting the camper again because of the thin air up there Laughing ______________________

On my Ducati's' it is 4th and no chickening out - probably why her Ladyship banned me.

In the Fl2 the climb is a spirited 2nd and 3rd gear and then on the Urnerboden straight (maybe straight - almost) but it is undulating hence you can get all 4 wheels [or 2 Ducati wheels] off the ground in quick 4th n 5th before the first of the final many hairpins and almost single width road to the restaurant at the top of the pass in FL2 2nd or 3rd.

Last week friends came over from Blighty on their Ducs and the cow pats on the road near the summit sent them into Jilly Willys - me, I knew them cows of old so forewarned is a skin saver (if not a life saver) and her Ladyship knows the new born child that the farmer's wife was carrying so I had to stop whilst her Ladyship did an impromptu check on health of mother and child. Talk about flying doctor's. It was a grand assault on the summit Very Happy
