Anyone willing to preferably LEND a DOG CAGE

An Enquiry:
We're visiting friends in Scotland (Loch Tay) in October.

They have just offered to let my daughter take her favourite Border Collie - their "TWIG" - with her when we go off on a 4 day side-tour to Mull and the Ardnamurchan. If we accepted this proposal we'd want to ensure the proper travel safety of TWIG. However our friends do not have a dog cage but a very big pick up which carts their working dogs around the hills surrounding Loch Tay, so we cannot procure that vehicle for those 3 days as they need it for themselves.

Does anyone have available a single dog cage that fits into the load space of the FL2 that we could preferably borrow for those 4 days the 10th to 13th inclusive Oct Question

Obviously I'd be happy to collect locally in the region.

Are you driving up? If so what's your port of entry into the UK? And proposed route?

At the moment it sounds like your just in Scotland so you may miss out on possible offers you might pass on your trip oop north Idea

Good observation Thumbs Up

We come into UK via the port of Newcastle.
Route up to Loch Tay not fixed - so very flexible in that regard. Smile

Thanks for the links.

With the dog cage am I correct in assuming that:
a) it fits in there without having to lower the rear seats?
b) how do you secure the cage to prevent it from sliding all over the place - and can you fix it in position without having to invasively alter the load space trim panels?

Any background knowledge on this subject would be most welcome - thanks Thumbs Up

If I did that, then the dog's owner would tie me to the front of the FL2 and then shove us both into the depths of Loch Tay Crying or Very sad

I love it when people throw a local flavour in to these converstations. I had to go and Google "Loch Tay" images - stunning! Thumbs Up

I've got one you would be more than welcome to borrow, but I'm in Aberdeen, which is a good bit out of your way.

We only used it once when our dog Ruby was a puppy and we went to a rented cottage on holiday. Never needed it since, as she is VERY well behaved.

I have a harness a strap for her, which clips onto one of the anchor points in the boot.

http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?h...CHQQ8wIwAA

This allows her to move around the boot area a bit, but will stop her from jumping over the back seat or, even more importantly, being thrown over it in the event of an accident.

You can also clip the strap into a seatbelt fixiing, if the dog is on a back seat.

Good luck! garioch43

Thanks for the gracious offer of the cage - I'll put that into the "inbox" but as you rightly point out Aberdeen is a stretch in the wrong direction for us to get there as our schedule is very tight in Scotland. But it is not immediately dismissed Idea

I've bookmarked that excellent harness product you've recommended - even with a cage I'll get one of those. Many thanks Thumbs Up

I would love to have been able to help you, but we are a long way out of your way here in Cornwall....

I don't know the dog, but are you sure that it needs a crate? None of our Collies have needed one from around the age of 4 months.
