Music Tastes? What do you listen to?

couple of questions;

1, what type of music do you often listen to by choice?

2, what music have you listened to thinking you wouldn't enjoy, but did?

I need some suggestions for my Norway trip entertainment and for the subsequent Youtube clip that I will no doubt need to put up for all her mates to see.

I listen to a global eclectic arrangement of sounds and artists/composers except Rap. The range is too extensive to list here, but suffice to say that it's "music to get ya sh*t together" as we often said back home in Derbyshire. But to reference some here's what's playing down the road right now (always changes weekly):

Beth Orton - Daybreaker
Maria Bethania - Pirata
Lou Rhodes - Bloom
Marisa Monte - O Que Voce Quer Saber De Verda De
John Hiatt - Crossing Muddy Waters
Robert Earl Keen Jr. - West Textures
Lhasa - The Living Road

And, not in play this week, but as your off to Norway this one sprang instantly to mind:
Mari Boine - Gavcci Jahkejudgu (8 Seasons) To be played with the windows open whilst driving slowly through Norwegian towns as it will upset all the right wing Nogs.

The lyrics are inspired by the book "People of Eight Seasons" by Ernst Manker - Nordbok Sweden. Mari Boine a Sami and campaigned like her father before her against the apartheid of the Norwegian Government against the Sami until they (the Nogs) permitted the writings and language of the Sami to be taught in schools in the far north and the establishment of the regional Samedikki (Sami Parliament)

Have fun on your expedition, and whatever you are listening to - keep one eye on the road and one eye on the wild life Thumbs Up

I was introduced to Classical music when I was at primary school some 50 years and never looked back to this day.
I also like late 60's early 70's rock, Zeppelin, Purple, that sort of thing.

I was introduced to big band sound in my 20's, never though I'd like it, but live it's stunning.

Big fan of Ella, voice to die for. Reduced me to tears many times.

Can't stand pop music, never could when i was young. Hate Radio 1 with a passion.

Planet Rock, Classic FM, Radio 3, Radio 4X Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Radio 1, the station that plays what they think the listener wants.

I listen to whatever's is on the local 'pop' radio station wherever I am - radio 2 if nothing else. By choice if on the ipod, its 80s/90s stuff - oasis, guns n roses, madness, the Jam etc. basically stuff from my younger days

BUT just learned yesterday that I now need to get into popera Big Cry

My best in-laws have bought tickets for us to go to an Andre Bocelli concert with them as a 'treat' - SWMBO is looking forward to it - I'm looking for excuses Sad
