Home page?

I have igoogle as my home page - I guess for many people that some kind of search function is the door to daily browsing.

I read that google are dropping igoogle from their product range next year and that led me to thinking what I should replace it with, to give me the ability to search the web, read the news, see the weather etc all on one page...

This was suggested: www.netvibes.com but I wondered what others on this forum have as their browser homepage that I can be inspired by? ...

Get yourself a MacBook Pro and Firefox browser Thumbs Up

The 'Dashboard' on the MacBook can be personalised and mine has a calendar, clock, calculator and local weather which appears and disappears in the centre of the screen at the touch of a button. Firefox browser has a Google search field at the top of the screen for quick searches. I have Freel2 as my homepage Very Happy

As for news, there will be some way of implementing that as well no doubt but being as I am running 60mb fibre optic broadband (even hit 61mb through wireless connection Shocked ), I can get all the news and video footage in seconds. I don't live in a city or a busy town but we are fortunate enough to have fibre optic in our area because I know of some on here who suffer very slow internet.

Speedy access is a must for me when busy carrying out research for my studies. Sorry for wandering off topic Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

You might be able to get similar functionality using Yahoo or Lycos.

Also you don't need a Mac to get desktop stuff, Windows sidebar works in a similar way. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

That's a fair enough point. I just mention MacBook after being convinced by some members on here that once you go mac you won't go back. It is off topic but I have not had one crash in almost 12 months since purchase. Expensive but I am glad I listened to the Mac fans. Very quick and reliable but as you rightly say, windows sidebar will do the trick. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
