Portugal 2011 LR2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Free2 2011 chip tunning data sheet- amazing values!

Hello every one!
Yesterday i decided to chip tunning my Free2 2011, TD4, 150hp, 6 speed manual.
The final result is amazing in torque and power. The Dyno Dynamics machine found that before the reprogramming of the chip the stock HP is already 160 HP; the official value is 150!
The image of the final data sheet shows the improvement to 203 HP and the 460 Nm on the torque!
The driving is fantastic; goes up on the hay-way like a SMART with 100 HP Smile We feel less effort form the engine and less noise.
I let the values for everyone comment and opinions.
Best regards to everyone from Portugal, future European football champion Smile Smile

I can feel it in my water they will be selling you a new clutch and flywheel too next week, they make it 160 because the clutch cant hardly manage that for long.

The 190PS model, does this use uprated parts compare to the 150, or will they just expect the DMF to fail quicker?

Does the Ewok use the very same clutch & dmf as the FL2?

Just make sure you come back in 10k miles, and tell all these naysayers your clutch is fine Thumbs Up Strathearn Engineering

Twoddle about the clutch can't cope...more like Land Rover don't offer it as a manual because people who can't drive will find it easier to detroy clutches quicker. BMW do the same on the 335d Very Happy Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Dear friends from Strathearn Engineering
Thanks for the opinion.
As I understand, you think that my configuration as to much HP and torque? Should I stay with less "power"? Can I have problems with the clutch and transmission?
I don't know if you see the dyno chart that I published; I notice that the values are different from the ones that you present on yours; but the version of the FL2 that is on your chart is the 160 HP version; mine is the 2011 150 HP, that as a 190 HP version; I know that the 190 is automatic only, but the Evoque as a 6 speed manual with 190 HP (?).
I hope you can give me some other suggestions.
Thanks for the help
Best
Miguel

Dear Big Dave
Thanks for your opinion; I think that you feel that my "tunning" was a little bit "radical"; do you think that the values are to much for the transmission?
Hope any suggestions.
Best
Miguel

Yes, they all say the same thing: it's too much for the transmission, especially for the clutch.
The exception is Strathearn Engineering, because this is one of their ways of making a buck and have to be optimistic.

A much more interesting tuning, in my opinion, would be a map that will keep those 400-420 Nm, on a flat manner, for a wider range of RPM. Something like below...

And don't take it personally, you will see reading the forum that each of them have their style of saying things.
Either way, their heart is in the right place.

Not unusual to map a vehicle to keep the torque down to preserve the gearbox. They do it on the audi rs6 all the time. Ie Flatten the torque curve. You still get the power and some of the extra torque higher up the rev range, just not delivered all in one wallop further down. (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc
(Going) 2013 TD4 GS Auto - Santorini Black with black leather. Cold Climate, UK Lighting & Armrest Packs. Privacy Glass. LR Rubber Mats. Full size spare.
60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

Interesting that they quoted 160 before chipping, when the manufacturer quotes 150, even more interesting that a car normally looses 20/30 percent of its power by the time its measured at the rear wheels, that would means it was producing over 200bhp before chipping. perhaps the company doing the chipping should have their Dyno checked.
