Hi FL2, Can't help on the 'Wayfinder", but my Garmin 1490 has an altimeter facility, showing to 1 metre increments, as part of the GPS. It is certainly responsive, responding to small dips in the road etc. I did read somewhere that the GPS itself has an accuracy of plus or minus 20 metres on height readings. It is generally within 10 metres of the road side altitude signs in parts of the Snowy Mountain Park and the Alpine Park in Victoria. The Garmin also has a compass which gives you your headings, but not to a very accurate standard - it shows N or NW or S or SE etc., so not precise detail.

Thanks for that info, Graham, I'll look up the Garmin 1490, but I already have a sat/nav and really just wanted something to show me altitude.
