There are lots of posts about software bug fixes. AFAIK my '57 plate HSE FL2 has never had any software updates and is running beautifully with just over 95k miles on the clock

However as minor niggles I do have:
1. Reduced Transmission warning intermittent,
2. Parking sensors not working,
3. Windscreen wipe on start up, and
4. Trip reset if too quick pressing the start button.

Reading through the forum it seems that some or all of these may be software related.

So how do I check what software I have? (I have a cheap ODB2 tester)
And, can I upgrade myself?
If not what should I expect to pay for this?

The software upgrade to sort out the trip computer resetting (don't know about the others) is a half hour labour cost.
