The new photographs in my gallery - May 22 - were issued by the CFA Road Accident Rescue Section; they show the results of a GPS left on the wind screen in hot sun. The battery overheated and exploded.There's a moral to this.....

Probably parked up for a while. I see so many vehicles with a GPS attached to the windscreen on full show and it just amazes (and infuriates) me.

It's easy pickings to a thief, which in turn effects the cost of my motor insurance, as no doubt they claim for their stupidity.

Perhaps this is the only way they will learn!

In the uk you don't leave the bracket on the windscreen as they smash your window to look for the gps so they can buy their drugs

Most explosions involve subsequent fire damage due to the heat generated and the creation of flammable debris, as in this case.

Lithium batteries are well known for their explosive qualities when overcharged, overheated or punctured. Lithium reacts rather spectacularly on contact with oxygen. Have a little search on YouTube for 'lithium battery explosion' 09 FL2 Santorini Black GS - Privacy glass, enormous fixed towbar!

A small Lithium battery like that doesn't cause much of an explosion.

Try using Lithium Thionyl Chloride staves, now those WILL kill you if abused
