well whilst the system is new the concept isn't. Forte lubricants are just one of many that do similar services. The unit is just an integral fuel tank with injection unit and so bypasses the cars fuel system whilst running on a chemical.I used this system many times with mixed results.

In the 60's and 70's Jaguars that used to suffer with pinking needed de-coking and the quick way was to get the engine very hot and then run some water through the air intake to crack the carbon !

Now believe it or not a very fine water mist constantly running through an inlet manifold will keep the manifold, valves and pistons spotless ! Infact when ford V-tech engines suffered with sticking valves in the 90's I used to stick a nozzle in the inlet manifold linked to a hose and leave them ticking over for about 4 hrs ! when finished the valves didn't stick and the engines had so much more power. Some persistent ones i used to stick a bag of water under the bonnet with a pipe to a vacuum point with a tiny mist nozzle and tap and it worked brilliantly. Thumbs Up

hydrogen gas generators are also very good on diesels for keep the engine very clean and more efficient.

I would guess with a cleaner going through the manifold it will clean the bits you list but how well i do wonder.
Some of the BMW engine EGR valves and manifolds used to block up so badly it had to be dug out with screw drivers and cleaning an EGR valve in an ultrasonic tank with thinners used to still be very difficult.

Depends whether your Focus is 2.0 1.8 or 1.6 ? Normally blueish haze cold is un-burnt or partially un-burnt fuel from hosing injectors, poor compression or depending on pump system, advanced solenoid in old style pump.

i normally start with a diagnostic check and mechanical check, then run engine very hot, remove fuel filter, add bottle of Comma Diesel injector magic into filter, start and run for 40 sec then switch off and leave overnight so cleaner is cooking inside hot injectors. Add another bottle to the tank and run for couple hundred miles. If it improves its a good indication its the injectors, if no different its timing or compression related.

It is a 1.8 turbo (03) with 46k when you set off driving its like it is being choked then you feel a slight surge then off its goes like a missile and the smoke clears I am wondering if the erg valve is sticking

The 1.8 suffers with air leaks into the diesel system which normally causes a rough idle on initial start up and loss of power until the air is purged through.
Those tiny little plastic fuel pipes tend to leak air in but dont leak fuel out.

If you wish to trace the problem yourself then you need to place a short piece of fish tank clear pipe in the fuel line as close to the pump as possible and watch for air bubbles on start up from cold. If yours is fitted with the hand primer on top of the filter housing the diaphragms are prone to letting air in.

EGR valve is always worth a clean but would normally cause you issues at other times as well if its sticking open.

I only know of it via Wheelers Dealers on Discovery. Edd China the mechanic happily sings it's praises.
Not totally sure it's suitable for the FL2 though... 2008 FL2 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver, Manual
