2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Firenze Red
Rear Tailgate switch clicking and Lock opens on ( Resolved )

The Tailgate on my 2007 XS just opens on its own
You close it and it opens again within 20 seconds
When its open i can hear a clicking from the Passenger well area
I have disconnected the wiring from the switch on the inside
then i can close the tailgate and drive the vehicle
Only problem is with this disconnected i cant lock the car doors
Is this just the locking switch that needs replacing
I have seen these available for about £20 online
any help would be appreciated Freelander TD4 XS Zermatt Silver Sept 07. twin elec. LR tow bar, mudflaps.

yes - it's a common issue of water/fluid getting into the lock switch unit.

As you say about £20 quid on the bay - simple change over - loads of threads on here about it

search for "+boot +switch"

or look here http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic6143.html

Sounds like water ingress in the Tailgate switch, some have taken it a pert and tried cleaning it, but for £20 and 45 mins you can do it properly,

Just a little light reading for any pointers needed. Thumbs Up
