Parking sensors

Hello everyone,

The parking sensors have recently stopped working properly on my 2008 FL2. Does anyone know if there is a quick fix to the fault, as I'm loathed to spend lots of money repairing them. Seems to be the rear sensor.

Thanks,
J

They are sensitive to water from a pressure washer and to muck generally so hopefully just a good gentle clean will fix the problem.

Mine are useless if it rains/has been raining. Fronts go haywire,so I have to switch them off, rears give continual tone as soon as reverse is engaged. Once the weather's dry again, they go back to normal.

Depending on the symptoms, it may be worth checking out my post from last year.

Parking sensors........isn’t that what bumpers are for?

Oh no....that’s a Defender Rolling with laughter

So far my sensors seem to be working, which surprised me on a car getting quite old now, occasionally I get a continuous tone for no good reason but then changing back into reverse sorts it......good luck with your investigations. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

85-% sure it will be water ingress . There is a connector on the rear offside for the loom that connects the sensors , it’s tucked up inside the bumper plastics . Disconnect it and check it is clean. Use water repelling spray then assemble with dielectric grease . If there is no improvement disconnect the loom from the sensors one at a time and see if disconnecting one brings the other 3 online . If it does , clean and grease the faulty connection and try again if it works great , if it doesn’t repeat on all four sensors until you find and clean or replace a faulty one . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
