fuel display problems

I am encountering problems with my FL2 (57) which I purchased last August although I have been really pleased with it up until now.

Just recently, I can have a full or partially full tank of diesel, the trip computer confirms that I have, for instance, a range of 250 miles and the needle on the fuel gauge shows that I have a full/partially full tank. However, out of the blue the main message centre gives a low fuel warning, the fuel gauge needle drops to the lowest point, the orange fuel lamp lights up and the trip computer starts a rapid counterdown to nil miles. Although the car doesn't actually come to a stop, it's rather disconcerting and I have to keep a mental note of how much fuel I have at any one time. If I carry on driving, the number of miles shown on the trip computer eventually starts rising, the orange fuel lamp extinquishes and the needle rises to its proper position. This can happen a number of times even on short journeys.

I have emailed the dealer about the problem but they have faiied to get to me. I intend telephoning them and would be grateful to hear if anyone else has experienced this problem as I don't want to be palmed off with any old twoddle.

Thanks for that. I believe I have a warranty for one year so I'll get on to it asap.
