Noticed it on mine a few times. It's probably something to do with the anti-stall system which will maintain revs to prevent the engine stalling. Simple solution I've found is to change down. |

Looks to be an electronic version of a throttle damper of old. I notice I can come to a stop the engine idles at about 1,000rpm. Then slowly it drops to 750. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I have noticed this on my 2012 TD4 manual, car quite happily runs along in 5th gear, as if it had an old style manual choke pulled out?

Flycop2000 - yes, that's a good way to describe it.

This is possibly for emission reasons, fuel is burned off in the second or two before revs drop then no excess emissions when you accelerate. Was system used to eliminate black smoke when applying throttle in older engines. All FL2's (3) Gone

Does anyone know if this is normal? going down a hill and depress the clutch, the revs drop to approx 750rpm. If I then put the gear in neutral and lift my foot off the clutch, the rpm goes up to 1000rpm.
