It was a beautiful, sunny day yesterday so I decided to snap a quick photo of our two vehicles in front of the house. Though they couldn't be more opposite in terms of vehicle type, the LR2 SUV and Cadillac XLR convertible make for a very friendly pair, indeed.

just looking at the picture I can feel the searing heat, the sort you feel just as you step of the plane when you go abroad

depends where you live, if you live in a newish estate with open plan front gardens, all with three cars and a white van in the drive, and kids running everywhere, then yes they are all the same. glorified council estates !! Iain |

The "estate" I live on was built in the 60s and at that time they mostly looked the same. However, since then most houses have had extensions, porches, drives, conservatories etc. added so now they all look different!

Thanks for the compliments! The presence of the overhead wires is one of the perils of living on a barrier island. You dig down more than three feet, you're probably going to hit water! So burying the cables was not possible, at least when this neighborhood was built originally in the 1960s. If you look to the end of the street in the photo, you'll see that it "stops." This end of the street is the bay. Three blocks in the opposite direction is the ocean. At one time, all of the homes were identical "Cape Cod" style, but since, about 2/3 of the residents have knocked down the smaller homes and built larger ones as real estate values increased.
