No matter what allegations he comes up with, he has failed to report the RTC. The circumstances of the RTC won't make any difference to the fact he hasn't reported it or stopped. Saying he did not know he had to report it isn't a defence. He could try saying he didn't notice a collision or he could deny being involved full stop. No witnesses but there is a CCTV camera facing away from the point of impact that would have seen us drive past seconds later. The camera is fixed so it won't have filmed the collision. Of course it need not have been the owner, could have been nicked and the thief was in the process of making his get away, hence the erratic driving?, this is where you need front, rear and side cameras.

one of our van drivers had a minor scrape with a car on the motorway recently where a car pulled into his lane, the car driver pulled up on the hard shoulder and our van driver did the same but some distance further down. Our guy looked at the van and only damage was a tyre swirl mark on the bottom plastic. Thinking the other car was undamaged and was at fault anyway he drove off and thought nothing else about it............. until our company received a 'request for name and address of driver' for the offence of 'failing to stop and give details'.

Although the hd camera I have is not up there with the roadhawk, it records automatically the minute the car starts, records continuously in 5 minute files, is time and date stamped and the pictures pretty good. It uses the same kind of sucker system as a TomTom to hold it wherever you want on the screen and powers from a USB lead (I got a longer one and hid the lead around the lining and down the pillar). All for under £30 and the cost of a sd card. |

Dunroof, thats vague of course. Plenty of variables such as the driver could be over the limit or not looking but taken purely at face value it is something the driver can do little about and should call the emergency services. It's late and I haven't done any digging so at this point I don't know what covers hit and run incidents.
