Travelling through the tunnel is so easy, we leave around 05.00am & in france by 05.21 then we crack on usually stopping for few days in Switzerland, then onto the Ardech for a week then across to the south [/img]

Are you related to "The Doctor"? Given the time difference, you are arriving 39 minutes before you leave. Laughing

Well lads thanks for all the reply's, Sorry some of you got a little upset !

I can see the point about some site's are set up like brookside in the UK Rolling with laughter and the Rain at 3am at night time can be a pain in the Censored

And your right oldgeezer about the french site'e there are much better then some in the UK, ( have only stayed in the larger 40 foot mobile home in France) but again it still works out cheaper to rent a larger mobile home then to Tow my smaller van to the south of France.

I have been driving in Europe for over past 23 years (with Holidays and work) I think it much better over there then in the UK, There for one don't hold lane 2 !!

Our trip this year is working out around about 3400 miles !! which would cost over £600.00 more in fuel and approx 23 hours of extra driving time if I was towing the Van !! plus about £400.00 extra for the van over night Ferry from the North East and not to forget the Extra tolls for the auto routes.

Yes the places we are staying at cost a little more, The second week in Italy dose have 5 acres land for us and a private pool and is set in 150 areas of olive tree farm land. it's going to cost a little more !!, The 3rd week is on a large Golf course in Provence (I don't play myself i think it gets in the way of a good walk !!)

But with all the add on cost of Towing a van to do the same trip it's not going to much more. plus we can have the roof down in our other car !!! So this year the van is staying in the UK

we could just stay in the UK in a (Brookside site) and have fish & Chip under our rain coats and save a lot of hard earned cash. but i think I will need to get a new wife !!! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Horse's for Course's every one caravaning this year in the UK or aboard Take Care and ENJOY Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
but for me Vanning aboard don't ADD UP Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Every day the Yorkshire post bemoans the forthcoming caravan tax,I get all exited by the headline, then remember its about charging VAT on statics Confused . I imagine wobbly trailers are already vat-able

It will affect industry in Hull as that is where most statics are made. It will affect me too as I get the wood shavings from said caravan production to use as bedding for the chickens. its staggering how many statics get built annually. At work
