Terrain Response clarification and use off road

From what I can read is that the TR works as a progressive percentage of power to front and rear wheels using the haldex coupling.

90/10 for Normal drive
60/40 Grass gravel snow
50/50 Mud and Ruts/Sand

I guess I am confused, as reading 4wd guides is suggests to have front and rear diff lockers engaged for tricky sections of tracks eg hill climbs, rocky tracks.

Engine management - Engine Control Module (ECM)
Transmission control - Transmission Control Module (TCM) (automatic transmission only)
Centre coupling control module
Brake system - Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)/Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)/Electronic Traction Control (ETC)/ Hill Descent Control (HDC) - ABS module

These are all used to control wheel slip. However with lockers on larger 4wd's from what I read, wheel slip dosent seem to matter.

When in Mud/ruts and or sand mode does it act like a front/rear diff locker giving 50/50 split. If it does and I dissengage the DSC will all wheels spin at the same rate? Apart from driving on sand is there any other use for this IE mud? I assume not as spinning wheels result as a loss of power and torque. however if I am not so concerned about fuel consumption or wear does it really matter?

Is the TR just a better system for improved offroad capabilitys or is it better to have diffs locked and let the wheels spin?

With the DSC on how long does it take to stop a wheel from spinning and transmit power to others, Does it matter what rpm you are operating at? as this I have found has got me bogged. If I am in mud ruts and there is a muddy rutted bog clearly I select the mud ruts mode keep power down and hope for the best. In this situation is it better to have DSC off and let the wheels spin?

When I am in normal drive if I loose traction does will rear wheels engage to deliver power?

Any help on the above is most appreciated.

It doesn't act like a locker. When in mud ruts you will get at least 1 wheel on each axle with traction. If a wheel slips and starts spinning, the traction control brakes that wheel causing the other one to spin so you actually have to spin a wheel before you regain traction. A locker has both wheels spinning at the same rate all the time. That is why it's hard to steer with a front locker engaged. ABS and DSC are different and both hinder you in some ways off road, especially DSC on sand because it can actually cut power to the car leaving you in limp mode if it gets too confused by all the slipping and sliding that happens.
Mostly the terrain response changes the sensitivity of the accelerator and when the gear changes occur. Terrain response is good but you can't beat low range and lockers for going anywhere with no fuss.

This is what happems when you forget to use sand mode when the sand gets hot and powdery
A momentary hesitation on the throttle
Revs to low and down we went
Snatched out backwards, selected sand mode and up we went without a glitch
Then, with a 30 m snatch strap, dragged a Mitsubishi up the same beach entry track
