Just had a software update a week ago and unlocking function changed to what Mork describes. I'll try Tandemman's way of switching back to the old way. Actually the new unlocking function is safer, but I usually use the boot when I first unlock the car, so... |

With you all mentioning software updates is there a reason why your getting theses updates i am only asking as i have never had or been told that i would have to have an update ...is this something that is done just when the car goes back to the dealer if you have a problem? |

My updates have been done due to non starts and other minor quibbles, i have taken the car in for these and had the updates. I beleive they will do them if you take it in, unless its a recall notice and you'll get a letter or phone call If everything is going ok, wait till your service Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

My understanding is that you car will be checked for updates any time it is in the dealers, whether they tell you about it or not is something you would have to ask. It seems software mods are quite frequent, and are downloaded into your car as a matter course if its in the dealers. It like a windows update on your computer. I think the reason some of us have experienced them more frequently is because our cars have a) been back to the dealers more frequently to resolve problems and b) we know about it because we ask. |

SRS means supplementary restraint system i.e. the airbags, seat belt tensioners etc. I guess SRS shows on the info display while they are being checked upon start-up - but you should probably check with your dealer to ensure it's just an info message. I can't remember if I get this message upon start-up............. |

Thanks for all your feedback. Popped into the dealer on the way back from customer visit and spoke to the sales guy. Well this is interesting, he confirmed this is standard behaviour until I showed him the user manual... then "hummmmm"... he said the hand book is misleading and this was in fact how "his" car worked. We then had a play with the showroom model, which behaved like mine, to unlock the boot you either double pressed the unlock or just the boot opener button. So I have changed the method of opening the car to unlock all the doors with one press (see hand book) as I have had my wife lock keys in the boot in the past by just using the boot unlock and putting the keys down while putting shopping in so don't trust the boot only unlock method. As I open the driver door and boot most journeys thsi saves the double press method
