Squeaky gearstick

The gearstick on our FL 2 has started to squeak when changing gear, sounds like squeaking plastic. It goes once the car is warm. Any ideas?[/quote]

I used Silicone Greese, a small pot of which I bought from a plumbers merchant.
A common problem and really easy to fix in a few minutes.

Been meaning to post about this for weeks. Glad I'm not the only one.

Will get the dealer to do under warranty as I've only had it a few weeks.

Had a go at my squeaking gearchange.

From the drivers seat, once the gear surround is removed, look down to the left of the ball and socket. There you will see a metal shaft and it squeaks where it enters the nylon bush on the left side of the shaft. Drop of oil sorted it.
I also noticed that the clear pvc tube at either end of the return spring were split. You can get this off ebay, it's 3mm bore x 5mm o/d. If you dont replace it, the nylon 6/6 moulding underneath will begin to wear.

Finally i smeared the ball with vasaline and warmed it with a hair dryer so it ran between the gaps.

All sorted now. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
