Folding mirrors

Does anybody know if you can stop the mirrors folding every time you lock it?

Yes at the dealer - they need to program it I believe

Just curious why you would want them sticking out while it was locked??

You can stop it from opening when you unlock the car, say when its winter time and all frozen up just by pushing the two buttons for side to side mirror control at the same time. I did this last year when it was all iced up and didnt want to put any strian on the power folding system Thumbs Up

mirrors

Thanks for the replys.
I dont recall the mirrors folding all the time when i got the car, folding all the time i can see the mirror motors and gearing not lasting to long before they fail.
Have only had the car for 1 week, i am a bit disapointed with my self because i missed a bearing rumble from the rear are they pron to wheel or diff bearing failure? I cant be sure where hte noise is comming from centre or n/s rear

If you press the two buttons to fold the mirrors in before you switch off, then switch off and lock the car.

Next open the car and the mirrors will fld out but I am sure the next time you lock the car with the remote they wont fld in!

Sure this is the method for keeping them out............... try it anyway and let us know Smile

Prone is probably too strong a word..but yes some people have reported problems with bearings at the back - I think there is a repair kit available. Did you buy privately or from a garage? Might it be under warranty if from a garage?

Tried this on my 10HSE.Once folded in with the buttons they stay folded in no matter what you do with the key fob. Once unfolded with the buttons they operate normally with the key fob. I can't find any way to make them stay unfolded.

I think I've been on this forum for about 3 years and I can't recall many instances of people having problems with the mirror folding mechanism other than in when iced up. I had a problem with ones on a FL1 but not any of my FL2s. Just think if they are folded in they are less likely to get smashed off
