where is the best spot to place your GoVia e-tag tried going through the gateway last weekend (bris) holding up my old one. Didn't register. Phoned up and they said Land Rovers need to have it stuck in a certain location and best to check the car manual. hmm, not there. thanks. SD4 SE Orkney Grey

Mine is a NSW tag, hides behind the rear view mirror and works ok. Are those tags special?

I have my GoVia tag pretty much to the left of the rear view mirror since I am quite tall and it is out of my view there.

I think that puts it below the black gauze like film that is at the top of the screen (is this the radio antenna??) and so maybe that is what the GoVia folks were talking about.

I live in NSW and use a QLD GoVia tag (ex brisbanite)
It is located to the left of the rear view mirror (completely out of the drivers sight)
That section of the windscreen has the black embedded mesh on it
It works on all the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane toll roads
Actually holding the device isnt a good idea
Your hand will block/absorb the RFID signal from the toll gates

I have just ordered a new "Flow" tag last week and today I only received a tag holder ... called up FlowToll and they said that because my car has auto wipers I needed a different tag holder!! The actual tag is still on its way.
Has anyone heard of that before?? ... asked Google, got nothing. The tag holder has a truck icon on it so I originally thought it may have been a windscreen angle thing ... but no, seems when you specify the car make and model when ordering one they know it has auto wipers, if so, I'm impressed with their system.

Speaking of windscreen angle, was driving in the rain the other day and I could drive fine with no wipers on at all, the angle, wind and speed all seemed to work together to blow it all cleanly off

There may have been some stuff on the windscreen like polish from an auto car wash. It makes the water bead and blow of quick. You can buy it for when the wipers fail, you wipe it on and you can see out wet windscreens pretty clearly.

Thanks CG, I'll carry an emergency potato for that very reason If it's not raining it doubles as an emergency meal. Can anyone else think of other uses for my emergency potato?

You could use it as a weapon, if anyone tries to carjack you, throw it at them...hard!
