My FL2 has suddenly developed a whine which is related to rpm whether in gear or neutral.
Is this the dreaded power steering pump? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

So How is it not the alternator? Pulley tensioner bearings will wind depending on rpm too

I hope you're right. But it doesn't sound at all like alternator plus i turned on all the heavy electrical loads ie heated screen/blower on full without any audible change, Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Mine has a whine to, I personally think it's dirt from the offloading trip to bala. More than likely the alternator on mine, because I did the good old using the screwdriver listening test on it.

I havn't yet looked to see if it's possible to run the engine without the alternator belt, dunno what else it drives. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Mine is defo a whine, sounds like it has a supercharger on it
