Tinting windows ?

Never really been a fan of tinted windows but tend to have tools in the back while on jobs so would be good to keep prying eyes away from my chainsaw's etc.. Don't really understand what they do when they tint them is it a film or a spray and if it looks Censored can I remove it..

and also what would you go for, 20% midnight black or 5% limo black and would you get the fronts done in 70% light smoke as well ?

I hate tinted windows and think they look really awful so I had mine done too, they use a stick on film on the inside surface, I had mine done to hide whats in the back too, tools, not the misses!

It's a tinted film which can be peeled off.
The darkness is a personal preference.
The front sides are already at the legal tint limit from the factory so take care.
All film fitting companies 'sell' one of the features as a security improvement as the film holds the glass in position avoiding (But not stopping) the quick smash and grab.

As an OEM fitment, it really has some advantages: it keeps the inside of the car much cooler in the sun (I often have a dog with me, so i will do whatever is necessary to keep him cool), my wife's skin has a serious intolerance to the sun, so it helps her and it keeps prying eyes away from luggage. I even prefer the look, as it's no longer possible to see just how colossal the blanked out areas of glass are; the rear window looks particularly silly.

The after market stuff never looks quite the same and can get damaged, but it still gives most of the benefits.

Agree with Tigger OEM is better as you can see the window dots on the film. It is UV blocking though and in my fitters case, guarenteed against scratching or peeling for as long as you own the car Thumbs Up

Tinting

Tigger is correct, last year I had the misfortune to reverse onto a tractor bale spike in a farm yard and the tinting film held the shattered rear window together for 5 days until new glass could be delivered. Tony

Had 2 FL's tinted by specialist. LR dealer would not believe it was film, job was so well done. All windows including front doors £180. I supplied special film for the 2 front door glass as advised by dermatology consultant.

Window film and safety; for all rally cars in UK competing in official events it is mandatory to have all side windows filmed unless fitted with poly carbonate windows. All FL2's (3) Gone

FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

@Chrisdeeming

I recently took delivery of an ex-demo FL2, and found that one of the rear side window tint films was damaged. The LR dealer sent me to Dynamic Performance, 135 Icknield Port Rd B'ham B16 0BJ. They did a superb job of matching and fitting a replacement film (at no cost to me!)
