DRL regulations

When DRL mode is enabled on the car it turns on the tails as well, effectively dip beam mode without instrument lights. Anybody know if there are specific UK regs that require this. I know newly approved cars will have to have this option.

I was looking to fit front DRLs myself but do I need to do something at the back. I can't find anything I like so am looking to modify the fog light surrounds as these can easily been replaced if I want to take them off. Prog rock is cool! Smile

OEM DRL's are front only.

This is counter productive in foggy conditions as recently they was a great number of drivers that could be clearly seen from the front with the intense DRL's they had but invisible from the rear as they had no lights what so ever showing Rolling Eyes

These are not to replace the fogs but to fit into the surround as the current model does not recess the lamps in the same way. If foggy I turn on lights and the DRLs would turn off automatically. If I didn't the fact that I have DRLs would make no difference n my rear visibility.

To me the fact that the rears are also alight with some vehicles has nothing to do with the stated purpose of DRLs but becase they are on the same circuit as the fronts and the manufacturer does not want to separate them. Why does a pedestrian care about a car moving away from them.

My idea is as a separate part I could buy another pair of black inserts, make up the lights and swap the whole module over. Prog rock is cool! Smile
