2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
I will soon be moving on

After almost three years of ownership, my 57 plate HSE will be part exchanged. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has answered my questions about the car and for the friendly exchanges of opinions that took place here. I will be popping in form time to time.

Brilliant Car Thumbs Up , rear wheel drive is real driving and BMWs drive like nothing else, 5 SE ride quality is like a magic carpet, to be fair there have only been 2 days this winter when I was absolutely unable to drive the beemer and one of those was my fault.

ps. I like the run flats, puncture on the motorway no sweat, no stopping on the hard shoulder and waiting for Eddie Stobart et al to flatten you deader than a dead thing, just keep going at a reduced pace untill it is safe to get a tyre changed. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

BMW's style have come a long way, in a short time, since unceremoniously dumping Chris Bangle (and not before time too!); no where can this be seen better than in the progress made with the current 5 Series.

Okay, so it's not my thing. But, with a proper 6 cylinder diesel, in place of the chosen-for-tax-reasons-only 4 pot diesel that I drove, it's probably quite a nice thing Thumbs Up

There's no doubt that they're good cars but I just cant bring myself to like them. Unfortunately from what I've seen on the roads German cars hold the worst drivers as they are designed to go fast, and lets face it if your on the motorway its usually the VW GOLF BMW OR AUDI Bombing it down the outside lane...

Thanks guys. I have a long history with BMW. I currently own a 330 ci SE (AMAZING) and in the past I have owned an M3 and a 320i.

Winter tyres in my 330 work a treat, and when we had snow the last two years I was able to go anywhere I needed.

Granted, the FL2 did much better, but then, this is why I bought it. Now that is getting p/x for the 530 I will look into a third car, maybe an old jimny or a pajero to take me where I need off road.

FL2 was all right off road with normal tyres, no complaint. But the 24 mpg was terrible. Of course down to the way I drove it, but the 530 will easily do 37-38 mpg in my driving style. I manage this with my 330 and it is a petrol. Anyway, Thanks for your comments.
