Ah, Bulgaria.
If you go to visit this monument to a corrupt ideology then you should travel 70kms north of the "Buzludza" to Veliko Tarnovo which is a testament (albeit a more beautiful one) to another dictatorship - the "Second Bulgarian Empire" as VT was the "City of the Tsars"
Another, and in my opinion the finest, historical monument to ideology is the Rilski Monastery approximately 100kms south of Sofia in the Maljovica mountain range. It's located at the end of a 25km single track road. Outside of the summer months (full of tourists shipped there in coaches) it is so quiet you can here a pin drop. Architecturally magnificent.
