I agree with ad210358, if you know the corner coming north off the AI to the Old AI/M62 services it was a 70 mph corner with the 19" wheels no problem, the first time with the 17" fitted was a bit of a bum twitcher.

I had the 18" on my first LR2 ( Rimini Red Freelander 2) and my current LR2 has the 19" (Shadow chrome). Don't notice a big ride difference. 17" not available in North America since we only get HSE lux spec. I have kerb damaged both sets. The shadow chrome hides brake dust and dirt better. The 19" (235 55 R19 ) tires are more expensive and harder to find (snow tires). Better selection for 18" tires. |

There must be various models of the Verde available, as mine are labeled all season M+S http://www.pirelli.com/tire/us/en/suv/shee...eason.html http://www.camskill.co.uk/brands/pirelli_s..._tyres.php I fitted them as I was not impressed with the Conti's. I have sold the FL2 so the tyres are now for sale mounted on Shadow Chrome Wheels http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic11495.html What if there were no hypothetical situations? |

my hse came fitted with 18" rims, ride was quite good, then l purchased a set of 16" rims for winter use to save my 18"" from damage(same overall diameter) and found ride quality much smoother and quieter,(tempted to leave them on) |

This is what I would expect. The higher pressure makes the tyre harder. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech 2012 TD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey - gone |

It's all down to the individual and what you have been used to. If you've been driving around with lots of rubber on the wheel you are going to have a different view from someone who hasn't. I've just got an HSE recently with 19" inch rims and I'm more than happy with the ride and handling. But I have just come from an Audi a4 with much lower profile 18" rims with sports suspension, and before that a boxster and lotus Elise, so in relative terms I'm in a comfy arm chair on wheels. For me I may have been put off if I had smaller rims, as the handling would have been not as good perhaps. But again it's relative to what I had before.

Having tried 16,17 & 18" wheels on various cars I would say that 17" is the best compromise between comfort & handling. The FL2 is not meant to be a racing car (did someone say it was a 4X4? ) and handles remarkably well on standard wheels so a little bit of body roll on cornering is perfectly ok and considerably improves off road capability and ride comfort over the larger sizes, while protecting the rims from kerb damage (and potholes these days) and reducing road noise.
