Gearbox Oil Breather Modification

Various threads mentioned this.
Has anybody who has had this mod , know what changes are made?
Currently my breather is routed up high into the engine compartment , against the bulkhead and terminates in a upside down U bend just behind one of the engine lifting eyes.
I get the smell of hot oil briefly when stopping at lights etc.

I suspect that the position of the breather is the issue , but could do with knowing the layout of the modified breather.

Update:-

The position is a problem , but only if you a mis fitted battery cover. (RHD model).
The whole mid section behind the engine bulkhead/firewall is where the air is routed after coming in througgh the grill next to the wipers below the windscreen. This means that the battery cover needs to form an air tight seal, otherwise engine smells will be pulled into the passanger compartment via the heater etc.

The battery cover was fitted poorly , and the foam inserts were mis-positioned. 5 mins with some draft excluder strip , and proper re-installation of the cover fixed the issue.
