Good luck then, hope all goes well on Wednesday. Having recently travelled to London from Scotland to take delivery of a car I appreciate how you are hoping that all goes smoothly! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I can vouch for the system Directline use, as i used to work for them, the call center people can only enter details on the system, you have to be a teamleader to print anything off and then they would still not be allowed to fax the copy due to what was "not secure faxes"

If you want to send confirmation of cover they had to hand write it on what looked to be something i could knock up on my old commodore 64.

I would take LR insurance out if they can see it instantly like Tim in Scotland says, and they cancel it within the 14 day cooling off period when your Directline Insurance arrives.

As others have suggested, try and pay once you've checked the vehicle. I also paid for my FL2 by debit card on the day. The bank do indeed ask a series of security questions, in my case they asked the sales guy, who in turn asked me. That took a while to complete, as they kept asking very obscure questions e.g. what is your account password, as set when you opened the account ..... errrrrrr yer .. that was in 1967, now what was it? ... emmmmmm .... hang on, we didn't have passwords then!! Rolling Eyes

I got my insurance company to send the cover note straight to the dealer, in fact they sent one home as well.

Anyway, most importnatly enjoy your delivery day, and driving home etc. Your FL2 will not disappoint!! Thumbs Up

NP- do LR still do the 14 days free cover? I was already insured with them when I bought my new car so getting a cover note was just a case of telling LRI the registration number and the day I wanted insurance to start, they even overlapped it for 24 hours with my old car, just in case something went wrong and I had to continue using my old car. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

There isn't a formal running in thing with any Land Rover, however the manual says that you should not allow the engine to labour at low revs in a high gear, or at high revs in a low gear. Commons sense really! The one thing to do is to check your oil level regularly in the 1st thousand miles - the engine blocks have a high carbon content and while not porous they do absorb a bit of oil in the first few miles. My Tdv8 has used about 1/4 of a dipsticks worth in the 1400miles/ nearly 3 weeks that I have owned it and my last RRSport TDv6 was similar.
Go out and enjoy it and take some photos for us all to admire it! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

This is the Land Rover advice

RUNNING-IN
The engine, gearbox, tyres, and brakes need
time to bed-in. During the first 800 km (500
miles) it is essential that the vehicle is driven
with consideration for the running-in process.
During the running in period the following
advice should be followed.
• Limit the engine speed to a maximum of
3000 rpm, and the road speed to a
maximum of 110 km/h (68 mph).
• Do not use full accelerator pedal travel, and
use the gears to avoid over-revving or
labouring the engine.
• Do not use sport mode during the running
in period.
• Avoid rapid acceleration or heavy braking
wherever possible.
• Ensure that servicing is carried out on
time, and follow any advice regarding use
in arduous conditions.

Hope this helps - 500 miles seemed a long time when I got mine Sad

and another running in thing

I'd add one further point to that helpful running in list .......... make sure it's 500 miles of varied driving too. One or two long trips cruising at 70mph (or whatever) would NOT be good news for the engine; so I was told. Shocked

My solution was to drive to Anglesea in North Wales from the Sussex coast two days after I took delivery, and back 4 days later. That trip included just about everything from an M25 traffic jam, to open road cruising, to A & B roads, to mountain passes and even a bit of off-road .... all running-in done and more!! Razz
