HSE driver's seat - Lumbar support

I've been trying to get my seat a little more comfortable. The lumbar support button on the electric memory seat doesn't really seem to do anything but the cushion is sticking into my back a bit too much.

Pushing the arrow which points forward I can hear a server going - but nothing seems to be happening. Pushing the arrow pointing to the rear nothing happens and I can't hear anything either.

Does something need resetting or is it bust? Freelander 2 SD4 HSE - Ipanema Sand - MD co-pilot - Springer Spaniel in boot - Swift Challenger on the back!

You should noticeably feel it pushing/moving away from your lower back...

I think the motor only works one way and relies on your weight to move the bolster back. I too am having problems finding the right setting for me, have to get to grips with setting the memory too, made the mistake of pressing a button and the seat moved so far forward the previous driver must have been vertically challenged.... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

normally lumber support is a flat of springy steel that is bowed by the motor or twist wheel, the taps on the ned of the springy thing can break loosing its bow At work

On MY11 (at least on my SD4) I think it is actually pneumatically activated. It blows 'up' fairly quickly and noticeably, but goes 'down' quite slowly so be patient and you need to be sitting in the seat at the time as it does use body weight I think. From full to nil takes a good 30 seconds on mine.

Oh, and the 'crazy' setting is from the factory which represents the extremes of all settings in one direction, up, forward, reclined all at once (got caught under the steering wheel when I accidentally pressed it Laughing

Hope this helps. 11MY SE SD4 in Lago Grey just arrived with a free Garmin thrown in! This could be the start of a beautiful relationship (I'm an eternal optimist, and former FL1 owner)!

When I push forward I hear a "bzzzzzzz" and nothing seems to be happening and when I push rear I hear nothing...

I was at the stealers yesterday with this very same issue whilst in for a service, in my old FL2 I could feel the lumbar sticking in my back when fully inflated and the button operated quietly like the seat movement buttons do. However on my SD4 it makes a whirling noise when inflating and 'nothing' when deflating plus I couldnt actually feel the lump in my back so to speak. Dealer checked it and it is actually working correctly and they even demonstrated it on another FL2 they had in the compound.

If you get out of the seat and press the button you will see the seat back inflate (although not massively) and when you press the deflate button it seems to need help (such as you in the seat) to deflate it. Im guessing that LR changed the design of the lumbar in the MY11 to a whoopee cushion or something!!

Not happy with stealer, they gave me a white FL2 as a courtesy car - I was cutting hair and doing blow drys all morning! Rolling with laughter

It's definitely the pneumatic thing. When you press forward on the switch the pump runs and if you are lucky you might feel the back pad get tighter. When you press back on the switch the bag deflates. Slowly.

The whole contraption is less than great!

Yes yes yes I've just rechecked and everything is working properly Thumbs Up

Inflating makes a noise "buzzz" and takes 30 about seconds to complete and deflating makes no noise but it deflates Thumbs Up

It all comes from the problem getting blown up out of proportion I think.
