Rolling noise?

The last couple weeks my FL2 has developed a strange sound/noise from 50Km/h upwards. The higher the speed the louder the noise. The sound is completely different from the engine sound and I think it comes for the rear of the car. It is noticeable especially with the windows closed. I do not have roof rails fitted and nothing is different on the car.

Sounds to me like rolling noise (tyres /suspension) but I am not sure, and I am not confident that the dealer can easily detect the cause. I have wrangler HP fitted with 45000KM on them. Overall the FL2 has 135000Km.

wheel bearing quick test.

drive along at a slow to normal speed and turn the steering wheel from side to side - thereby shifting the vehicles body weight from side to side - if the sound stops when the body weight is off the bearing then it's a bearing.

If the sound remains constantly probably the rear diff

The bearing is cheap the other can be Big Cry 2002 Honda VFR800

Thanks for the answers. I thought that maybe the rear diff had a problem but I didn't want even to mention. Big Cry

On the way to the dealer, I did the wheel test. It sounded that when I turn right the noise disappear. When we went for a test drive, the LR mechanic was almost sure that was the rear diff. Luckily when we lifted the car and we pressed the pedal with the wheels off the ground, the sound was definitely coming from the right rear wheel.

Luckily is only the wheel bearing. Very Happy

It will take a couple of days to arrive from UK, since it is out of stock here.

I recently took my car in for a Service and mentioned a similar noise to the dealer. Just a light warping noise coming from the rear right hand side of the car when the car is doing over 80km/h
Apparantly some FL2's can have bearing problems at an early age according to my service centre.

In my case its the rear drivers side tire making the noise. They have only done 50000km but apparantly I need new ones and it is not uncommon for this to happen with the tires the Car comes with.

Anyone else had problems with the stock 19" tires?
