I think the point made was that the item I referred to about SAAB was just plain wrong and regardless of it being just entertainment should contain a modicom of fact. If they cannot do that then it would be best to leave the subject alone.

It's taking me a long time to go off Top Gear.

It used to be unmissable and had to be recorded.

Now, it gets recorded and either watched live, or once on the recording in the hope that it's acceptable and pretty much every time my hopes are dashed.

I know it's not a factual program, so it lives or dies on whether it's entertaining. Most of the time it's no longer entertaining. Not only has it become terribly predictable, but it's heavily scripted and is usually embarrassing rather than funny.

Jeremy Clarkson definitely needs to move on; I'd like to see it headed by James May with 2 new presenters and a rehash of the format. But, I don't think that's going to happen. The program will die with JC at the helm, it's just a question of when.

Matt Smith's interview was informative though; he's even worse in real life than he is as Doctor Who!

I use to watch it many moons ago along with the CBBC channel, then I matured and grew up.

I agree with Tigger, James May heading the program with more "real world" cars and Jermy Clarkson given a new show, simply called "Look at me", would do us all a favour, along with Hammond moving to Cbeebies.

Bring back William Woollard and Kate Humble - They talked about the cars we drive and provided useful information. On reflection, forget William Woollard. OK, forget the cars  - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

Aaahhhh Kate, now there's good stock also Michaela Strachan has matured nicely. but then 'Springwatch/Autumnwatch' are proper programmes with proper people.

I was tidying the loft out over the weekend and came across my old video recorder, found some recordings of topgear and couldnt believe the contrast from then to now. The hosts were roadtesting ordinary cars (Rover 200, Nissan Maxima, Ford Escort to name just a few) and giving proper reports and opinions, no explosions , no supercars, no dribble and to be honest - it was better! I still watch Top Gear but tend to record it, watch it later (flashing through the crap bits) and then delete it from my hard-drive. I wish they would stop roadtesting supercars that I can neither afford or are ever likely to see on the road, perhaps do so once in a blue moon to keep the minority happy. The challenges are good but have become too scripted of late and predictable.

CG has a quality TV, it's an old Bush model with thin spindly legs, I think he got it from McP when he upgraded to colour
