quite a few fl2 drivers have mentioned the same thing on here, just check when you are motorway driving in auto that the car has notched up to 6th its often quite happy staying in 5th at legal motorway speed

Depends how lead footed you are or whether you're on a climb. My car always selects 6th at a touch over 60. So do all the auto FL2's I've driven. I've never known it to sit in 5th at 70. Command shift will allow you to change up at 55, but then there's next to no acceleration, as the revs are well in the turbo lag. The art of driving an auto is to dictate when you want the box to change for you, as it's all based on throttle response. I very rarely use either command shift (other than in snow) or sports mode, as there's no need to. Thumbs Up

an art to driving an auto ?? what a load of b******

an auto is for people who either can't be bothered, or simply cannot drive a car properly for various reasons.

I'm sure a video of you starting your Freelander with a handle, as you seem to purport, will be appreciated by everyone on here. Rolling Eyes

Maybe a video of you and your bucket getting water from the well too Thumbs Up

6th gear 70 mph 2000 rpm, change from 5th to 6th appears to be around 75 mph. not done extensive testing on this as the Mrs was asking to many questions about why I kept messing with the revs and gear change. At work

FL2 SD4 = 6th gear equates to 78mph @ 2000rpm. Looks like a completely different gearbox map.

And I thought it was me when I first read this at 4am this morning, I put it down to CG coming back from the Pub or I was still asleep, or even both.

Not tried it myself but I am sure it has been said that if your in Sports Mode it won't change in to 6th
