I'm thinking about updating the grille on my FL2 to the HST one.

Is it something i would be able to do or is it tricky?

All depends Annie, do you want a Cheese Grater on the front, do you fancy attacking the front of your Freely with a hacksaw blade, cutting the old one out and sticking the new one in, held in with 3m tape

I prefer the look of the HST one but didnt realise that the other would need a hacksaw  59 TD4e XS in galway green

all the hacksaw marks are hidden by the new grill. easy job (by all accounts) but why? the 'sports' grill isnt pretty (CG showing unknown diplomacy ) At work

Yes i saw a black one with black vents on here the other day and i liked it

Hi Annie

Have you t hoght about replacing the front bumper with the facelifted one, makes a big difference and there's always one or two on the bay. Plus you get a different grill

I may be a little late in joining in on this thread but here goes anyway! I have also considered the HST/sports grille as IMHO it looks good - others will clearly disagree but it is a matter of personal taste!

As for fitting one, have you had a look at the following:

This is a link to the LR fitting instructions for the full body kit but does include the grille. As you will see, the instructions are about as useful as the ones for the mudflaps

Back to the grille, I have seen them on eBay for as little as £20 so if you fancy changing it may not cost the earth. The facelifted 2011 front bumpers are also to be had on eBay. I think the fitting of these is straightforward but you may have to get it painted to match your car....

Let us know what you decide and if you do fit the HST grille let's have some pics  2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

My pleasure I will be interested to see what you think about the grille when you get it, and if you do go ahead fitting it, how easy/difficult it is.  2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

Hi Annie, don't take a hacksaw to anything, !

invest in one of these or an equivalent such as Bosch or Worx with the amount of modding you do it will pay back in avery short time. you can cut and sand very precisely and even if the result is hidden by the new grill you wouldn't want it to look like a dogs dinner would you ?
