Heavy traffic ahead warning

The Sat Nav on my HSE has the annoying habit of persistently warning of heavy traffic ahead when it obviously isn't correct. Is this normal or is it something I have done when setting it up?

No I don't think it's something that you have done, I've had it say heavy traffic ahead when it's only been me on the motorway on a Sunday at 04:30 but you can turn that bit off which I do.

Traffic warnings rely on TMC which is a broadcast picked up by all SatNavs with a TMC function. The problem with TMC is that it relies on the correct information being fed into the system and it then being updated regularly. It also works in France and last weekend warned me of slow traffic ahead - which turned out to be the Peage South of Calais, so it does work sometimes.

I also beleive that when the TMC operators go home on Friday they leave the last messages live for the weekend - is this why we get congestion messages for Sunday mornings - they haven't been cleared from Friday rush hour !!!! Tony
