I never joined a Defender forum because I could mend 95% of all problems with a socket set, a soldering iron and a hammer, but reading this forum is even more worrying than my Italian motorbike forum 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Nowt wrong with Italian motorbikes Unless that is, it is an Aprilia, which are Chinese now! Usually it's the halfwit rider's failing. |

They've owned Benelli for a number of years now - a sad state of affairs. The German government slapped an importation ban on that X5 copy three years ago and have asked that EU to also do the same - no decision yet made on that by the EU. Staying on cars - anyone want to buy Mitsubushi's only European car plant - it is now for sale for €1 |

Certainly. Based on over 35yrs of representing Aprillia plus Ducati, Benelli, and Moto Guzzi my friend (who owns the largest [by sales volume] independent Ducati dealership in the UK) has built a comprehensive database on reliability for these wonderful motorbikes. A comment he has made is that, in his experience the problems with Aprillia's most often lay at the hands of its owner's own tinkering. This effect was also experienced with the other brands but to a much lesser degree. For the last 6yrs he has restructured to only focus on Ducati. Spare part logistics and ownership changes of the other three brands became far too time consuming and frustrating to warrant the investment (time, money & additional trained staff) to continue with them. |
