When you try to open it with the Fob or the handle, does it make any noises to suggest that it is trying to open

Like you, i had the message "tail gate open" and nothing trapped. infact boot was empty one time.

I would still go for the switch, it only needs a little bit of water and with the cold temperature, if it freezes this is when it will fail. |

I think it only needs the rear washer fluid to run down onto the handle and I'm sure it will get in 2002 Honda VFR800

The later switch seems to have some sealant between the rubber and the switch, when I did mine a couple of years ago, the replacement had no sealant, I have sinced picked one up off the bay for £3 and it has sealant on the join, hopefully I will never have to fit it though. |

Starting bid of 99p and I was the second bidder, result, the £3 included £1.50 postage while I have it as a spare I probably won't need it, sort of insurance policy. |
