I can imagine a BMW will give you a massive annual saving over a Disco, the one I run as a company motor is £90 road tax, can't get less than 42mpg average pulls like a train, and will do mid 50mpg on a run at 80 mph, and thats with a 170ps engine, at two years old it's not as efficient as the newer models, don't know how BM and Audi are getting the performance out of their 2 litre diesels, the 3 litres are also incredible. They are on condition based servicing and I don't think this one was touched 'till the first oil service at about 19,000. this is my 3rd and the other 2 all went over 100k miles with no significant problems. Only pricey thing is if you get one fitted with Run-Flats, the garage will not repair them 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I passed on the Land Rover Comp Safari Championship to the younger generation, will still have contact as a scrutineer on technical/safety side.

I've got an FL2 auto and a manual BMW 320D - a good combination with all bases covered !! Can't fault the BMW - 134 K miles / 10 years old and still average of 52 mpg and still on original battery and clutch etc. |

Work colleague has recently got a BMW 320d with Efficient Dynamics technology and is consistently getting mpg in the mid 60's and has managed 76 mpg on an overnight motorway run at an average 65 mph.

Didn’t buy the SD4 for fuel economy but yesterday I got a pleasant surprise when I clocked 41.1 mpg |
