Love my heated screen. All I need now is the heatshot/alphatherm heated washer fluid Thumbs Up

I have owned a number of cars with and without heated windscreens. Last car without it was my FL1 and it was sorely missed. I opted for it on the FL2 and it is useful but the PTC heater or whatever it's called seems quite good when the 'prog' button is pressed. So I was wondering how effective it is at defrosting without using the heated windscreen.

Now, next time it's frosty I could of course see for myself by switching the heated windscreen off but for those owners with S or GS without heated windscreen, how do you find it for defrosting? I suspect it is much improved over the FL1.

my previous car FL1 had a heated screen, and it worked realy well
now i have a FL2 GS that doesn't have... and i miss it. But .. on a frosty morning i press the prog button and while i'm scraping both passenger windows and the rear passenger side window the middle of the front screen has melted and i only have the edges to scrape before getting into a warm car.

derryk My First Fl2 and it is a 2010 GS Auto in Grey
with Nice Leather and the Stereo
even has headphone sockets in the back.
Wish it had a heated screen tho..
Traded in a Fl1 for this.
Got a georgous Black SoftTailed Harley

Me too - never had a heated screen so can't say, but the Prog button is a big improvement on every other car I've owned.

with temps as low as -16C here the heated screen and prog button are a boon

by the time I've brushed the roof and bonnet of snow and scraped the side windows it's ready for a brush on the screen, switch wipers on, select snow setting and GO!

5 mins max Very Happy

Not many manufacturers offer the heated screen, is there a patent on it as the only vehicles that seem to have it, have had a relationship with Ford Question even the Transits we had eighteen years ago had heated screens, we have Renaults at work, they mention it in the Owners Manual saying "if Fitted" but it is not offered as an option or at least not in the UK.
