For those of you with caravans

I have a caravan as many of you know. Very Happy

This was purchased brand new in Nov'06 and was due its first service Nov'07.

I decided to wait and have the service done this year at the beginning of the caravanning season.

Today I have rang to book the caravan in and was told by not having it done within 60 days of the due date, I have just lost the remaining 2 years warranty. Big Cry Mad Mad Big Cry

I only did this as i thought it would be better to make sure the caravan was in perfect condition for the start of the season after been stood still and not seized up over the winter months.

I am absolutely FCensored P Censored off at the moment.

So I thought I would warn others about the warranty issue I have now got and hopefully help others not have this problem Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Stirling Europa (part of the Swift Leisure Group)

Just spoke with the Dealer, and they have said that they don't need to tell me about the warranty, (obviousley wanted to tell me about the great 3 years cover it had but didn't mention the service time limits)

My fault for not reading the small print, but with new vans you pop them in on warranty claims and then they tell you if its covered or not, so why read it..........

They can sell me a extended 2yr cover for £225, but i am going to speak to swift group on this as i feel hard done by.

I have dealt with this dealership for years, travelling 100 mles return to Catterick to purchase or service my last vans, my fathers dealt with them for year too, guess its what you get for been loyal Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Sorry to hear about you losing your warranty, i hope you had a good discussion/argument with the dealer about it and the fact they didn't point it out to you.

Saying that i was aware of the 60 day rule ( i think some are 90 days ) and this is either side of the anniversary date. I too have a caravan that i purchased in November and have to service it and then lay it up for the winter ( except in 2006 when we went away for christmas in it ) and i think it is stupid but they are the rules too keep up the warranty.

The only fortunate thing is that english caravans have improved greatly over the last few years so hopefully you won't have any issues with it, mind you i brought german ( Hymer ) and that as been great. markrt

As this is for those with caravans.....

You might like to consider purchasing the spare FA11 fuse shown on page 202.
It is not your usual type fuse and I think it could be one that gets abused wihen connecting the wiring leads.

It was less than a £1 from my Land Rover main agents-they had to order it.

Hi N Pinks,

i have some sympathy, and assume you were dealing with the Kinsells ( not Ropers ) and I find their attitude surprising, particularly as you have done business on a regular basis with them.I have a Vanmaster and am aware of the timing of services, and I can understand wher they are coming from.

If you had bought your F2 in Dec 06, would you have waited till March 08 to have it serviced knowing what the handbook says ?

life is one long learning curve.

Regards Transman

Wouldn't expect anything else that's what you bought the thing for isnt it?

No caravan has EVER passed my tractor but I always let normal cars go by me at the first opportunity , something c Censored vaners would do well to learn from.
